After the incident at Spa, Rosberg Hoping relationship with Hamilton Stay Well
Francorchamps – When both hunting Formula 1 world title this season, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton involved an incident at Belgian GP. Rosberg hopes the incident does not damage his relationship with Hamilton.
Relationship Rosberg and Hamilton actually been heating up since the Hungarian Grand Prix last month. At that time, Hamilton ignoring team orders to let overtake Rosberg. Hamilton eventually finished third and fourth Rosberg.
However, a more serious incident occurred in the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa–Francorchamps Circuit, Sunday (24/08/2014). When a new race enters second lap, Rosberg who try to grab the leading position of the hands of Hamilton even nudge the rear tires car Mercedes teammate.
Hamilton car tire is leaking and he could not continue the race. Rosberg fared better and was able to finish second despite having to replace the front wing of his car.
“I’ve seen it and I do not want to say – But certainly, as the stewards assessment, it was a racing incident. That’s the way to explain it,” said Rosberg in Autosport.
Hamilton said that in a team meeting after the race Rosberg admitted accidentally bumped. However, Rosberg has its own explanation related to the incident and did not believe risky maneuver.
“I was faster and there is a chance, so I tried to overtake on the outside because there is no way in the lane,” said the German rider.
“I do not see any risk in overtaking, or trying to overtake, so why do not I try? There is an opportunity there, even without DRS, because I was much faster. So, I tried it,” he said.
Rosberg hopes Mercedes nondestructive internal harmony because of an incident at Spa. Although he and Hamilton compete for the title this year, he hopes to do with the former McLaren driver was still good.
“I’m sure we can keep it. It will always be a fierce battle, it is clear from the beginning and will always be difficult moments,” he said.
